Technology

The mills at Claiborne represent the very latest in environmental and process technologies. This allows us to make a better product without compromising the environment.

Alabama River's softwood and hardwood pulping operations utilize a number of process innovations - oxygen delignification, improved washing, and elemental chlorine-free bleaching.  Advanced environmental control systems include an oxygen-activated sludge effluent treatment process, one of the most modern and efficient facilities in the U.S., and highly advanced emission control equipment, including large low-odor recovery boilers, power boilers with electrostatic precipitators, scrubbers and NGC collection equipment and a specially designed stand-by incinerator.  The mill processes utilize all wood waste for fuel, water conservation and re-use features, and feature extensive recovery and reuse of process chemicals.
